Welcome to Kirby’s Korner, my new blog on my new website, kirbytalk.com. I’m excited to have the ability to reach more people on more topics than my time on the air gives me. I hope it proves entertaining, educational and fun.
The fight over how much government control of our medical system there will be continues and so far the good guys appear to be gaining the upper hand. The Blue Dogs continue to resist pressure for quick passage, and the more the public learns of the plan, the lower their support of the Democratic plan(s) goes, and the lower the support of the President. We cannot let up and must increase our pressure; letters, emails, calls to talk shows, especially those in favor of government control, going to town hall meetings during the Congressional recess, educating ourselves about the issues, all are important ingredients in the recipe for victory. Let us strike a stake deep in the heart of the beast. This is a fight we can win.
The situation in Honduras seems to have settled down. The renegade president Zelaya tried to force a confrontation on the border this weekend and called for his thousands of supporters to meet him there as he crossed from Nicaragua and rode their wave of support back to power. The only problem is that dozens showed up and the protest died a natural death from lack of interest. Apparently he is not as popular as both he and President Obama thought. Hopefully, he will just fade away and the rule of law will win one in Central America.
IRS has come out with their 2007 tax data, the last year they have full information on, since 2008 filers have until October to file if they got an extension. It shows that the top 1% of taxpayers in America pay a total of 40% of the total federal income taxes. Read that again – the top 1% pays 40%. The bottom 95% pays 40% and the bottom 50% pays less than 4%. How much more of a tax burden can we put on ‘the rich’ before they say enough, and either move or stop producing? The economic ignorance among the Left and particularly our President is overwhelming. There also is a moral question here, the same moral question that prompted Lincoln to oppose slavery – a individual has the right to the fruits of their own labor. If that is true, then how much can government take before it becomes too much? I would suggest that we are past that point. And another question arises – if those in the bottom 50% pay so little, and in some cases nothing, when it comes to the Federal income tax, what stake do they have in reforming tax policy? Just a few questions that need answers.
New thoughts and news – it is being reported by ABC that Professor Gates and Sgt Crowley are actually related – both have Irish blood that can be traced back to the 4th Century. Australian geologist Ian Plimer says global warming is the ‘new religion of First World elites’. He reports that we have had polar ice for only 20% of the earth’s geologic age and that species extinction is part of the natural order. He is also a virulent anti-creationist, so the lefties can’t pin that one on him.
Two recent minor yet telling signs of where the sympathies of this Administration are. Since 2006, the American mission in Havana has had an electronic billboard on the side of it’s building which displays pro-democracy messages. The Cuban government, a brutal dictatorship if I must remind you, has tried to block them, even posting police officers outside to hurry people along and not let them linger to read them. The Obama administration has yanked the cord, and no more messages will be displayed. And, today, they yanked the visas of four Honduran diplomats, putting pressure on the legal and legitimite government of Honduras to compromise with the deposed President Zelaya. He had failed over the weekend, as noted above, to stir any support for a comeback, and would fade away if ignored, but the Obamaites jump right in and support the bad guy. Whose side are they really on? In this case, not the side of rule of law and liberty.
Having a few problems figuring out how to post – my most recent post is actually the third paragraph above on taxes.
Cash for Clunkers has turned out to be a success according to the Administration, since it ran out of money within a week. What did these economic illiterates think would happen, passing out free money to buy new cars with, given the economy and the pent up demand for cars??? And is it really a success when we take other people’s money, through taxes, to subsidize people to buy cars? Or, increase the debt, which our kids will pay, to do this? The American people acted as any coherent economist would tell you they would – they took the money. And, the resulting chaos gives you an idea of what our health care system will look like if they ever get their hands on it. These incompetents can’t even run a billion dollar giveaway, God forbid they get their hands on 16% of the economy.
One other note. This program will effectively, ultimately raise the price of used cars, as they are destroying the clunkers that are turned in, reducing the available supply. Who is most likely to buy old clunkers as cars? Think about it. Just one more way government shows their concern for the poor and low income.
Did you hear about the latest solar power boondoggle? In Kittitas County the worlds largest solar plant is being planned. Last month, the estimated cost was ‘north of’ $100 million. Now ( are you sitting down?? ), the estimated cost is $525-$700 million. That’s just not north, that’s in lunar orbit. According to Todd Myers, of the Washington Policy Council, that is five times the cost of wind power and other renewables to generate similar quantities of energy. They say it will creat ‘ hundreds ‘ of jobs. As Todd points out, if it creates 500 jobs, that $1 million + per job. Junk economics, junk science, junk idea.
If you want to see where Obama is taking us, look at California. If you want to see where responsible Republican/conservative rule can take us, look at Texas. Compare the two, and there is no question which is a superior way of governing. See Ross Douthat’s column, Monday’s NYT, Blue-State Blues.
Your new site is great! The information and links are an excellent complement to your radio program. Thanks and blessings.
Hey Kirby,
Nice website design. Good to have you on board.
Can you tell me why our elected leaders are now passing bills into law that they haven’t even read? I read contracts several times a week and you can add one sentence that completely changes the meaning and intent of any contract. How can they make laws for us without knowing what is in the law?
Thanks for all you do?
Chuck
Thanks for the info on Cuba – I had not heard that. The unthinkable is believable with this administration.
Are these “blue dogs” really conservative is some degree, like some “Scoop Jackson” or are they just resisting just to get some concessions and bring home the “pork” on something more local?
Glad to see you really embracing the internet. Next step is to start your own podcast. Look at http://www.twit.tv for an example of how to do it right.
RE: Cash for Clunkers – This is similar logic of taxing tobacco and alcohol to benefit health care. I thought the whole point of Light Rail and the greenies was to get us away from our cars. Now they are helping us to buy brand new ones to keep driving over the next 20 years?!?
Nice site, Kirby. Really like the extra detail you have provided that just can’t be delivered properly over the air.
God Bless!
Today the President blasts those who speak against his and the government’s policies saying they need to “stop talking”. Funny for a man who for the last 4 years daily stood up to contest the “…failed policies of George W. Bush”, maligning our troops in the height of the Iraq War, all for political gain. Hear is what he told Americans to do a year ago if upset with the government:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCMDur9CDZ4
Venting here, – For those who believe anybody who opposes Obama’s policies is a racist – you are projecting this out of your own bias. What then, are you saying that because Obama is Black, he can not stand up to criticism like a White man?
I can’t comprehend how the liberals believe it is my job (through my taxes) to buy my neighbor a house (through the bail-out) and car (through Cash for Clunkers) and give him free health care as well! I thought I worked to provide for myself and my family, but apparently not any more.
Kirby,You are so right on.My heart aches so much to see what is happening to our United States. How can people be so dumb as not to the writing on the wall. I am a old women of 77 years, born in 1932 and seen our country go through some tough times, but this latest takes the cake.
Kirby, I had a hard time finding your election picks. “Be Informed” doesn’t say “Election Picks” to me. FWIW.
There should be NO law or Bill that is more then 5 pages passed and even then if not READ!
Just started reading Paul Johnsons “History Of the American People” It should be mandatory reading for young and old. After reading just the first 50 pages or so you will see why we cannot let these people drag us down the road to Socialism. We are Americans, Goddammit. We must fight his with every breath. Whatever it takes!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to District #3 in Thurston County! I attended a fabulous event last night in Olympia on behalf of Pat Beehler. Although I am not a resident of Olympia, I affiliate with district 48, I attended this event because I believe in supporting our people 100%! We are the minority in this state, it is important to get involved and support our fellow GOP’s in every district, city and county. After all, if we plan to change our ways in Washington State we need to establish more balance which equates to more of us in office. I wanted to personally thank you for the thought and contribution you set forth for District #3. We all need to support one another in this election and as a leader we appreciate your initiative in doing so for Pat Beehler. Thank you!
Great site….KVI’s site is a garbage dump ! and you can quote me
Kirby, when we met on the TEA party in Redmond, you told me to start a blog and I’m working on it, but since you have it, you can add the postcast deal or try to work a live broadcast deal so we can listen to you online until you are on the air again.
Tell AJ and Carson we are thinking and praying for them too.
Well Fisher has officially declared their irrelevancy in the Seattle radio market. Kirby’s contract may have been a nice sum, but how much local ad revenue do you think Weissbach is going to attract and keep? Fisher might as well start selling work-day time slots for infomercials on KVI. That station is officially dead to me. Jim Clayton & Dennis Kelly are obviously incompetent. Maybe they can become senior executives at Boeing/McDonald-Douglas (where incompetence is highly paid)!
I am sorry you are off the air – please let us know where you will surface – KVI has lost me for good! God bless you – Merry
Leaving KVI will give you a new adventure. Now you can excel into bigger and better things.
I like the blog kirby! Just sittin in front of the fire in a howling storm with the power out! Using my bookoo cool phone to check out the new site. Good stuff! kvi is the worse for the change, you will be fine, God will see to it, just trust in him and he will guide you. Call me sometime if want to talk, give our love to Trina. If i ever get power back, i will link your site up to my blog. Take care my friend, stay on the high road!
My husband and I figured they were having trouble with finances. Those were the days when you and Rush and John were on. I honestly wonder if they need someone to help budget, because, you three were tops. They should have been makeing money hand over fist.
I just left my phone number at KVI. I asked them to call when you return. I advised them that I would not hear the promo on the air.
KVI now has nothing to offer me. Laura Ingrahams is just the same voice as those that follow her time slot. We’ve lost our local news expert.
Been happily listening to you for ten years in bellingham. I hav to stand in a certain direction so as to get reception. I think you should start a daily podcast website that combines numerous conservative speakers. Charge the customer a small annual fee. You than control your own profitable webstation.
From one ‘brother’ to another, I wish you the best. I have enjoyed hearing you comment about American ethics and history, and compliment you on your devotion to teaching kids about this magnificent country. Maybe national syndication should be the next move, or as a sub host for some of the others on our side of the dial. One thing’s for sure…you’ll rise to the top no matter what you ultimately do.
Hi Kirby- I called KVI and told them that if they are smart, they will call you and apologize and ask you to come back. Unless they do, I am no longer listening to KVI at any time! Is anyone organizing a rally for you? If so, I will definitely show up.
The conservative voice needs to be hear. We need to speak up and demand our country’s constitution, and our liberty be preserved. I keep thinking of the quote by English philosopher Edmund Burke who said, ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing.’
Sorry I left a d out of the message above. It should be heard, not hear.
Kirby, You are feeling what we are all going through or have been going through in the workplace right now. Although we appreciated your show and witt, I guess KVI didnt think you were worth it.. Very sad. But Im sure with your social contacts and background youll be back on the air in no time. ( Oh I forgot were in Wa State) You better head down to CA with Bryan Suits.. I heard they are replacing your show with the Sham Wow infomercial..
Kirby:
I’m sure that you will survive. Probably thrive. Beck is hot right now but he will not last. Too silly and lacking in sound pinricples. AND LOCAL has a special appeal.
KVI’s received my thoughts & they’ve not responded! Wonder why? I believe you ticked off upper management (“upper” that’s a joke) somehow & they NEED to be top dog. KVI has lost me. Shallow & asinine, KVI is now as crazy as those folks on Capital Hill & the White House. Now who’s playing the Star Spangled Banner to start my day? Need the number of KTTH The Truth? Kirby you’re the best & I’m sad you’re not the first voice I hear in the a.m. Please keep all of your loyal listeners informed as to where we may tune into you next. All the very best ~
Kirby,
Thank you for many years of guidance and insight. After moving to eastern Washington 6 years ago, you, via the web radio became my main source of information on the wet side of the state. After the college that I work for blocked the streaming, I had to get creative just to listen to the Kirby Wilbur show.
I thank you for the last 14 years of your work that I have enjoyed, and hope that your next radio station will stream your show
Many thanks to you for dedication.
Kirby, the airwaves grow thinner and you are be much missed. If you could give us websites/addresses of those to whom we can write over these and other important issues we can make a bigger difference than we can in our cars and kitchens with only our ears and thoughts. Here’s to making the world a better place!
No more 570 in hte morning.. Laura is good but just too much and too national for the 6 AM ride to work.. well they screwed up KBSG FM and now they have screwed up 570.
I appreciate the explanation, and will miss the Kirby Wilbur Show. I never thought I would be removing 570KVI from my presets. I hope to hear you on the radio again soon. Please keep us advised.
We appreciate all you do and have done for the conservative movement and the community.
Thanks
Jimbo
Fisher Communications is out of their minds. They have just caused KVI to suicide. I have been listening EVERY morning on my headset radio for years. You have been my source of reliable, truthful, and fact based local and international information every morning while I am in my fields picking up “Schrammies” left by my horses. I’m the guy that insisted on calling you MISTER Wilbur as I use Mister as a term of respect. You EARNED that respect.
You still have it. KVI and Fisher Communications have NONE.
Keep the blue side UP (pilot talk) fly straight and level.. Fred
Hello Kirby….Just checking in again. Am anxious to know how you are. Wanted to encourage you keep the faith. I really believe that God intends this “set back” for good. My prayer is that you will have a much broader venue than KVI allowed. Will be watching and waiting to see what you will do next. Just don’t forget we NEED you. I believe there are much bigger and better things ahead for you and my husband and I are praying that God will quickly lead you to your next step in the fight against those who would destroy our nation. On this Thanksgiving Day, you are one of the things we’re thankful for. God Bless!

What do you think of my new idea?
Washington Statewide-Collegiate Vote Idea
Gathering the support for a new statewide-collegiate vote idea. Instead of the big counties voting over the top of little ones. Each county would count one vote after certifying their county-wide results as pass or fail toward each statewide issue/initiative position or office.
Washington has 39 counties. Each would have 1 vote, yeah or nea! Therefore, our Statewide majority of counties speak for our Washington majority, much like the national collegiate.
Instead of a group of special interest, concentrated in a single county , such as King, Pierce or Thurston carrying the vote concentrations against small and less populated counties. Each county would therefore only have one vote counting toward any state-wide measure. This would not affect the local elections issues as local issues would be counted as they already are, via the popular county-wide vote.
This statewide-collegiate vote could either be a simple majority or a super majority rule.
Concerning our state Congressional and Senate seats. Our Primary election process already selects the peoples candidates of the top 2 candidates in each category and Statewide-collegiate county votes would apply to special or general elections.
I think this idea is exactly what most of the Central and Eastern Washington would want as Seattle doesn’t represent these folks the way this state majority truly want!
What kind of support do you think we can gather and how quickly could we do this?
R/ Stewart A. Swenson, Island County
I went to England for a few weeks and when I came back my favorite radio show was off the air and replaced with yogurt. Well at least it freed up some space on the presets.
Kirby: Tonight Eileen and I were discussing the possibilities of candidates for elected office here in Washington State. We feel that Kirby Wilbur would make a great candidate to replace Patty Murray as our U.S. Senator.
The only other Republican / Conservative person we could think of would be John Koster. In our view John Koster should consider another run against Congressman Larsen.
Congressman Larsen no longer represents his constituency but instead does as Nancy Pelosi dictates.
We want for viable conservatives in this State. We need conservatives who will run on the Republican ticket to seek office. We suggest Kirby Wilber for Senator and John Koster for Congressman of the 2nd District.
Maybe it’s a dream – but that’s where we are!!
What a bonehead move!!! my opinion the program director & those responsible shuold be terminated. Kirby is top notch. Goobye KVI, you lost me. Kirby let us know where you are & when. I hope to listen to you. I & many other listeners that I personally know share my opinion.
No more KVI Hope to hear you on some other station soon. I do not blog only to support you on this.
Even a webbased talk show would be fine. That would allow the blog types and the listeners the best of both worlds. Just a thougt.
not afluent yet to make website
but can answer email. My mom Charlotte sure does miss you in 5:30 -9 slot. Her question is about

Hi Kirby. I first started listening to you when you were the night guy on KVI. You were a breath of fresh air. I continued to listen over the years, and was shocked to hear Laura Ingram instead of you in the morning.
I wish you the best. Thank you for all you do. I hope we have not heard the last from Kirby Wilbur.
GOSH Kirby, My mornings as a School Bus Driver was doing my share to “Educate” my kids I haul,(ages 3-21yrs) is having conservative talk radio on and having a discussion with them. Well at least the ones that don’t keep saying, “Nana, what’s that?, I have to go potty”). Anyway, my mornings aren’t the same. Laura is more argumentive and you are informational and open discussion. I miss you TERRIBLY! I was never smart in school I think I was A.D.D all of them but not Behavioral for sure! Not with our up bringing and school rights then. But at 62 I learned more listening to you Kirby then in 12 years of schooling! THANKS!
Kirby we do have a problem with the Obama-Nation! It seem like everytime he promised this we got that. The man does the opposite of what he has said, except for the fact he is prodly going to “necissarily raise our got of energy”. I got one for them, we make Flex-cars mandatory (Retro-kits are not very expensive) and we can all drive our cars,SUVs and Pickups on Alcohol fuel made from the wood chips, corn stalks and wheat or straw. Also, then our own local refineries can concentrat the week making Jet fuel (Hi-grade Kerosine) and Diesel fuel (ultra low-sufur) and Heating oils (hi-sulfur) P.S. Regular gasoline has double the sulfur content as Hi-sulfur diesel fuel before the Feds forced the reduction the summer of 1997. Didnt hear any peep from President Obama (damn that hurts to say!) on the Sulfur or acid rain or Amazon forest (which is in south America) issues… I suer miss you on KVI dude!

Good job on the new site Kirby! On that closing statement,”Whose side are they really on? In this case, not the side of rule of law and liberty.” . . . i have been wondering the same thing. Can’t believe all the unconstitutional things this administration has steamrolled in. Of course there isn’t any official opposition or media coverage . . . I should say “old” media coverage.
