Kirby Update

First thank all of you for the kind and supportive messages. I miss you all more than I could ever explain. I am working on a few things, a couple of possible jobs on radio. I continue to teach and will be blogging here, so I will stay in touch with the issues of the day. Thank you all for the suggestions that I run for office, but before I do tha,t I would need to find a good divorce lawyer, at least according to the Boss.

    Kirby!
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I really miss your morning show so much. I learned so much from listening to your show and want to thank you for that. I’m so happy to hear you may have other prospects and hopefully we’ll be hearing you on the radio again, yay! I didn’t know you teach. Is it like adult classes your listeners could attend?

  3. Cammy says:

Wanted to add that I am still boycotting KVI because they took your show off the air. I will not listen to any of the shows on KVI now. I hope others are doing the same to send KVI a message on how important your listeners thought your show was.

Kirby–LOL I don’t blame the Boss one little bit..LOL BUT maybe you could clone yourself and they could run for office! HAHA
I really hope to see you back on the radio SOON! There’s a bunch of us in Lynnwood who MISS you!!!
    Merry Christmas!

This may be a pie in the sky idea, but here goes. How about 97.3, KIRO’s FM talk station? You might be able to sell it by way of the John Carlson show on KOMO, or long time talk radio out of wacko land in San Francisco, 810 KGO. They have Dr. Bill Wattenburg. Dr. Bill is the light amoungst the dark, dark, KGO land. At night KGO pumps up it’s wattage (or something) and for 30+ years we have listened to their crazy ideas when we are on the Long Beach (WA) peninsula. Over the years we have come to enjoy Dr. Bill ever so much. He’s the only really sane DJ mixed in with the liberal of the liberal (and criminal!). Can’t wait to hear where you land! No divorce lawyers, but keep us posted as to what we can continue to do to get the CONSERVATIVE and CHRISTIAN message out there!

  7. Joel says:

I don’t blame the boss for that. There is a lot out there that people would do to try and destroy those who are not prepared.

  8. Steve Tracy says:

So, what’s next Kirby? You could probably get on most anywhere in the American talk radio market and be successful. Will you go back to Virginia, look in another major market, stay put, what? I would miss you Kirby but I would certainly understand if fate takes you some where else. I’d probably do the same thing if I had to stand in your shoes. (no jokes please)

P.S. Have you heard the rumor about Oprah, leaving her TV show and turning over to some one else?

  9. Ingolf Kronstad says:

    Kirby,
When I first heard the news, I was shocked! I couldn’t believe it! Then when given opportunity, I wrote to the radio station mgmt,
    expressing my dismay and voicing
    strong support for you, Kirby.

Most of all, I want you to know
that I have been and will continue to PRAY for you and
your wife – especially during this time just before Christmas!

I am a Pastor and also a PCO for
45th Dist, Rexgate precinct – so
will look forward to hearing you
    at future PCO meetings.

GOD BLESS YOU! Praying for you!

Several years ago, Kirby was scheduled to appear at a Greg’s in Puyallup to collect toys for Toys for Tots. There was no remote broadcast, it was dark and rainy and the assistants had not yet shown up with any promotional giveaways, etc. I drove to Greg’s to drop off a couple of toys, and there was Kirby out in the rain, collecting contributions. That’s dedication!

  11. Rose says:

I can certainly understand “The Boss’s” reasoning but if not you then who?????

  12. Jay Demme says:

Kirby, My morning drive sucks since you were canned by the IDIOTS at KVI. I was a listener since you started and now KVI is removed from my presets.I am hopeful you will be back on the air locally. God Bless,
    Jay Demme

  13. Martel says:

    Hey Kirb,
Running for office in WA State is be tough, especially since you’d want to be Governor, or Senator.
However, I really do believe that this state NEEDS more committed conservatives to run and to wrest control of the Republican Party from the “moderates”.
Kirby, you and I are the RINO’s, not the other way around…I mean that we are conservative first AND THEN we are Republicans. So, if we build up and solidify a faction first, welcoming back into the party all of the disaffected Christian right-wing, all of the correct thinking libertarians, and all of the same thinking populists, then we may just have a majority. No third party thinking here, but I believe that “those that be with us are greater than those that be with them”.

  14. Mardene Patton says:

Can’t say that I blame Mrs. Wilbur on that one……

  15. maureen says:

Hey! So glad to find your blog. I shall follow your thoughts here. Oh Kirby! we miss your voice.

  16. Debbie Smith says:

NO DIVORCE! You have a good thing going there. Are you trying for KTTH? You could compete with Glenn and Rush…I’m only listening there now, except for Sean…

  17. Terry Harder says:

Kirby, thank you for all you have done for our community. KVI affected us all more than just the loss of a great radio show, OSOT could not have done much without your announcements or your help in fund raising and so it was and is for many groups you support. You local analysis of issues and politics helped us understand those issues and make good decisions on how to vote. I hope another local station sees the value beyond your show of having you on the air.
    Your show is sorely missed.

  18. georgie says:

Please DO run for office. That will surely guarantee that the liberals win. With all that you’ve said over the years it’ll be easy to run attack ads against you.

Best of luck to you for the future.

  19. Diane says:

Wow, how out of touch I feel without you in the morning keeping the local news information flowing. Listening to the piped-in national shows does not do it for me. There is no other acceptable alternative to you in the morning. I bet the liberals down in Olympia, Seattle and elsewhere are dancing and kicking up their heels knowing that your voice has been silenced and a huge void has been created. But not for long I pray. I look forward to you being back in the near future. Have a very blessed Christmas!

  20. Susan says:

    Kirby,

I sure miss you. We need you!!! Local politics needs you. I pray you land on your feet soon and enter the airwaves again. You have a way of speaking the truth that makes it easy to understand.

  21. Mike McClelland says:

Kirby let us know when you are back on the air. Thanks for keeping this Blog in the interim. Great way to keep up with you.

    Mike

  22. D. Bruce says:

Kirby, I am so glad I found your blog. Been listener for yeeeeeeears! Nice to see Carleen’s comment. I miss you, too. But, I’m sure that whatever you do it is going to be great. In fact it will probably be a time of growth, for you and your fans. God bless you, and Merry Christmas!!
    Bruce

  23. Nick and Shelly Ransom says:

    Kirby,
We are watching and waiting for the day you will appear on a new local station!

  24. Shirley McCann says:

We miss you and hope something will be available for you on radio soon. You were our best connection to what was happening in politics, especially Washington State politics. Now we only get the liberal interpretations from radio and newspapers. Wishing your family a blessed Christmas and Prosperous New Year!

  25. Gail Love says:

Kirby, I feel so lost now that I don’t have your input in the morning about local and state issues. There is no other place to find out this information. I haven’t tuned in KVI since I learned that you weren’t coming back because I just can’t take Laura Ingraham in the morning. I really pray that you come back on a radio station that I can listen to before I go to work in the morning. I need information on local and state politics.

    Gail Love

  26. Amy says:

Just found out about this today. Can’t believe it! Have been there listening to you since the beginning and am crushed that you are no longer there. Since they canned Bryan Suits, you were the only reason for listening to that station. No reason to bother anymore now. Miss you so much! Thank you for your thoughts and wisdom over the last 16 years – you are appreciated! God Bless you and your family as you transition through these changes, and please make sure we can find out somehow where you end up!

  27. Laura says:

I miss you kirby. I have no clue on what’s really happening around here. Hope you’re back on the air soon.

  28. Lena says:

Glad to have found your blog. Morning drive to work is just not the same. There are enough national shows that it is the same over and over. I have become a Dori fan at least he gives it the punch you always did. I will be checking regulary to hear where you are cause I will be tuning you in. Blessings

  29. Shannon says:

We’re continuing to pray that you find a job that also enables you to keep on teaching! You are the best American history teacher I’ve ever seen in action.

    • Kirby Wilbur says:

Thanks Shannon, teaching is something I love doing and I am hoping I can both teach and get back on the air somewhere. I am thankful that so many parents entrusted me with the education of their kids over the years and hopefully, most of them learned something.

    • Kirby Wilbur says:

Thank you Shannon, I am thankful that so many parents over the years have entrusted their kids to me. I love teaching history, and, hopefully, they have learned something.
