IRS DATA on taxes paid in 2007, the last complete year they have data for, shows the top 1% paid more than 40% of all income tax revenue for the first time and that more than 14 million working Americans became ‘non-payers’ between 2000 and 2007. Guess those Bush tax rate cuts were just for the rich….
OUR CURRENT debt coming due this year is $1.6 trillion, double the revenue from the income tax for the year, according to Leonard Burman, a Syracuse University economist. David Walker, former Comptroller General of the US, recently said that our total federal financial hole is $10 trillion greater than the current estimated nret worth of the entire country.Saul Alinsky wrote ” The moment one gets into the area of $25 million and above, let alone a billion, the listener is completely out of touch, no longer really interested, because the figures have gone beyond his experience and almost are meaningless. Millions of Americans do not know how many million dollars make up a billion.” These notes courtesy of National Review.
ACCORDING TO the AP, only 10,000 homeowners have received permanent mortgage loan modifications under Obama’s program for such things. Problems include that only about one in three people who sign up return the completed paperwork.
CHALK ONE up for the good guys…Abu Yahya al-Libi, #3 in command of Al Qaeda, has been killed by a drone strike in Pakistan. Hope it happened during his Nobel Prize speech. Killing bad guys is a surer way to peace than demonstrations, songs, chants and dreams.
A REPORT OF a poll of GOP insiders that says 28% would like to see Sarah Palin shut up. Insiders, those are the guys and gals who gave us Bob Dole, John McCain, Lincoln Chaffee and Dede Scozzafava. I suspect a poll of the GOP grass roots would show 95% wish the consultants would shut up.
Those 95% probably also include Newt Gingrinch who never misses a photo op with Nancy Pelosi, and Linsey Graham, who roams the halls of Congress looking for ways to bend over for all the Ds!
Amen – Brother!! We miss your voice – so thankful that at least we have the written form.

They are all crazy! starting with our state of Washington! We should have a History making “RECALL” of all of them!
I for one would like to hear more from Gov. Palin. I’m reading her book now. Reading her Tweets and Facebook updates tell a story of a woman who is much smarter than you might think, all without being arrogant and pompous like those smart assess on the left. If she throws her hat in for 2012, watch out.
Kirby, I miss President Bush very much. I had issues with him toward the end, but people had issues with President Reagan, too. By the way, my son-in-law is one of those “non-payers” for 8 mo.s now.
–I need a loan mod, but I’m not going to the US Gov. for a hand-out.
–I like Sarah Palin. Maybe she should be a senator to counteract that “comic” in Minnesota.
So glad I can still keep in touch with your weekly commentaries! Praying for many good and timely opportunities for future radio jobs!

Kirby . . . First of all . . . Sorry to hear of your program cancellation – - It provided a unique prospective in Seattle.
Now, here is the short statement of what I think defines BHO:
His agenda is to destroy the U.S. economy in his first. (and he’s done a magnificant job). His goal is to absolutely guarantee that the United States of America will never again have the means to project political, economic, or military power anywhere in the world when he leaves office, no matter what the cause for that might be. He does not care if he is re-elected if he can comlete that agenda, and secure that goal! He dispises this country and its’ people!

Bless you! I am always amazed at how hard we work to take care of lazy SOB’s that can’t even be bothered to turn in paper work that could help them get out of the hole they dug for themselves. Remind me again why those of us working for a living, and paying our mortgage, have to look in the face of trillions of dollars of debt?
Hi Wilbur,
Merry Christmas! Please keep us posted about your new job prospects. Enjoy the time off with your great family and friends.
God’s blessings to you all!
Sincerely,
Betty Holland
I agree with that. It is very difficult to be a Republican these days. I worry that conservatives will split and the Socialists will win again.
Ah yes, the ones who gave us Dede and spent RNC money to do it. Are we ready to give the RNC another 100 mill to do it again? My money will be spent on state and local conservatives and those conservatives in the GOP, if any are left (oops, I said left, sorry, I meant remain). Kirby, we need you back as a northwest spokesman; the idiots in Olympia have passed SB5599, about time for you and Tim Iman to get to work! Come on back Kirby; anywhere on the AM or FM band will do. God bless you and Merry Christmas.
Phil (clean Phil).
Missing from your discussion is the percentage of income earned by the top 1% of taxpayers. If they are earning 50% of total income (the last figure I heard but I do not have a citation) paying just 40% of all income tax revenue is a pretty good deal. I sure wish I got to pay a flat 15% of my income in tax, as many rich folks only pay, rather than the 35%, plus social security plus medicare that I am charged.
Great Blog post. I am going to bookmark and read more often. I love the Blog template
