HAITI UPDATE

The stories and pictures from Haiti are devasting. One estimate says possibly half-a-million dead. The poorest country in the Western Hemisphere needs our help, and it doesn’t need it by going to the White House website. Please consider the following worthy and reputable organizations:

I am so angry by O’s announcement that we are giving 100 million in tax dollars …!
Why should you feel compelled to help by virtue and conscience when you will be compelled by force!

Kirby, I was driving to a store and heard you on the “David Boze” show. It was so great to hear you–I was shocked one morning when you were not on the “usual” radio program! Your “Wilbur Warriors” have missed you greatly.
Thank you for listing credible organizations that can be beneficial getting aid to the Haitian people–prayers and aid are absolutely
    necessary to these precious survivors.

    Kirby,
I agree with you, I do not need to go to the White House for help, or for help for others; they do not know how to spend our money as demonstrated by the economic mess we are in.
All of the organizations mentioned by you are excellent.
The Salvation Army is special to me. A thousand years ago, when I was a penniless, dog faced GI, returning from the Korean war, those good people gave me food, lodging and laundry facilities til I could find a job and a place to stay. My wife and I wrote a check to them (for Haiti) this morning and know that it will be well spent; we couldn’t give much but a little bit by a lot of people becomes a God send to those who need it.

I do not like the idea of a government building standard. I can see why the builders might have a standard so make sure that each builder is building on the same job and not one built with straw, another twigs, and a third of brick and each owner expecting his home to survive a big blow or quake.
How about the insurers? They have an interest don’t they if the home is not there and they must fork over to pay up.
But what does the government have to do with it? If the building industry or insurance standards are lax then they should pay up to the victim based on the magnitude of the quake, and set higher standards so that they won’t have to pay up again.

Hi Kirby, I really appreciate turning on the computer and seeing I have a message from Kirby Wilbur.

I would like to add another organization that does tremendous work and follow-up is
    BILLY GRAHAM:
    Haiti Relief Fund #200053
    BGEA
    1 Billy Graham Parkway
    Charlotte, NC. 28201-0001

I was also going to suggest LWR, but you already posted that. I know those are two very reliable sources who not only collect money but they are right in Haiti ministering to the people and giving them aid. They stay there until their work is finished. God bless all of the care providers.

    Thanks again,
    Lois Schelp
