Don't worry about whether or not it makes fiscal sense. To be a liberal means that in SPITE of common sense, in SPITE of facts, in SPITE of logic, you are convinced that you know what is best for others, even though it flies in the face of facts, even though it bosses others around. A liberal is willing to take the money and the freedom of others in order to force bad ideas and nonsense on others. It is as stupid and blind as Obama's comments about getting fast passenger trains here in the US, like other countries. He-LO-o, we would have the private sector climbing all over one another to build them - if it made one lick of financial sense. It doesn't, but those leftists all want to force us out of our cars , jack up our taxes, and push us back to medieval lifestyles. Caves and cooking campfires will still be controlled by the government (HUD, EPA) when they get us pushed back that far. Don't forget the spear tax, and the bill they'll push then, against the right to own a sack of more than ten sharp stones. (related to a current bill aimed at enacting gun controls that are IMHO ridiculous and possibly unconstitutional) It is a pity that people who can't think straight, and people who want to implement all manner of backward social engineering, still vote.
