Anne: Texas and California are the only two state that I know of that purchase statewide textbook adoptions. In all other states, textbooks are selected by individual school districts. That makes Texas and California a huge market. Win their textbook order and your company is assured of making a significant profit on that book.

These two states are not "proving grounds" in any other sense than that they are huge markets. Fifteen people will make the decision for Texas, but not for other states. Texas, being substantially more conservative than California (who isn't?), I'm more comfortable with their decision. But, when it comes to Bellevue School District making a choice, that will be a committee of Bellevue teachers, administrators, and probably school district patrons. Some publishers may drop their offering, having lost either Texas or California; but most will be pushing that much harder to get replacement orders for the loss of Texas.

Now I taught social studies for most of my 37 years as a teacher. I never saw a textbook that
"removed Christmas, God, our American history, 4th of July" etc. I suspect the fear on those levels is unwarranted. However, as an experienced teacher and textbook reviewer, if Kirby wants help looking at textbooks, I'm available to help. Just send me an Email, Kirby, and we can discuss our schedules.

Hi Kirby,

I heard Senator Benton on David Boze's show yesterday (right after you), and was very impressed. I wasn't aware of his record regarding fighting taxes. That is the information we need so we can stand up against the left-wing attacks on his attendance record.

See you on Monday at the Push Back Rally! Keep up the good work!

I'm scheduling a day of vacation for it. Let's see, Olympia - That's south of Seattle, right? Just want to make sure - you know how dumb we Conservatives are said to be by the left...

Oh - side-ramble, off topic except for the fact it is with regard to leftist mentality - Early this morning I was listening to the night-air-bounced signal of 810AM from San Francisco, and caught Ray Taliaferro hurling venom and calling names at a caller to his talk show. Ray was taking nearly the same tone as Reverend Wright's GD America sermon, yelling and spitting his blindered, biased comments at the caller. The caller, to his d\credit, stayed calm and I believe was reasonable and correct in his comments about our present fight in Afghanistan. Ray could only shout about how Iraq was largely for oil and money for Cheney, that Vietnam was baby-killing and a chance to use poisons, and he completely ignored any rational, logical perspective on why we go to war. Our failures IMHO when we have gone to war is that they too often are fought politically, not with the single goal, to win. If any of you ever are up late at night, try to find KGO 810AM when talk show host Dr. Bill Wattenburg is on the air. He's brilliant, and Conservative. (10PM on weekends, I think) Find schedules at the KGO website.

Oh - lastly, I heard on 670 AM in Boise this morning that they passed a bill requiring Idaho to file suit with the USA if the USA forces healthcare on them. Read the news on that at the link I posted here. Swee-eeet! Push-back!

Kirby: this is Ken from Bothell, soon to be Ken from Kirkland; now that we've been annexed to Kirkland. This message come to you from San Jose del Cabo. We watched the Super Bowl here and enjoyed the Saints' win. Missed all the cool ads though, as they would break away to Mexican TV ads, instead.

Attacking an armed guard of an armored car service and complaining about being shot? I'm with you, what do you expect when you do that? Cookies and milk?

Will miss the caususes! Never saw them happen on a Saturday before. Don't get back until late that evening. Hope all goes well.

As Regards Global Warming;

http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/snowfalls-are-now-just-a-thing-of-the-past-724017.html

Pay careful note to the date of the article and the source of the information.

As to the family of the would-be robber of Armored Cars...

Perhaps they should have spent more time crying that it was unnecessary for him to go and try robing an Armord Car. Seems to me it would have been a somewhat more productive use of their tears. (Pardon my calousness, but I seem to forget any family members of the Guard in the Lakewood store getting any TV time to express their views on the criminals)

My question: Is Don Benton someone who will really stand up against Patty Murray? Will he be passionate? Will he call her down when she does her typical spinning and lying?

If not, he loses. Remember Mike McGavik? He said he was going to run a civilized campaign. He "civilized" himself right out of the Senate. When you lie, you are not civil.

GLOBAL WARMING: William Happer, of Princton University, has testified twice before Congress and said we are just going through a normal "warming" period"---it is not manmade. The sun is getting hotter, and more volcanos are erupting than normal. For William Happer's efforts, he was fired by then Vice-President Al Gore, and replaced by someone who was willing to be less than truthful.

There is also a report signed by 32,000 scientists stating that the present warming trend we are seeing is definitely not man-made, and that CO2 levels are totally safe, and not considered unsafe by any reputable scientist in the world! I have a copy of that report, and it is very technical---but it does carry a lot of weight in the Scientific community.

Have ABC, NBC, CBS and MSNBC even heard of the "scientific community"?? The socialists are using this as a scare tactic to get other countries to draft "Cap & Trade" legislation, which in turn is a play to get control of businesses.

My prayer is that some investigative journalist will expose Al Gore and his group for the liars they are.

Here's another point that I feel is miss-interpreted ... the weather channel again pointed out that ''carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere were responsible fof the rising acid levels in the ocean'' ... now I'm not schooled in all this stuff; but I read some .... I get real brisselley[sp] about this .. because I notice that sometimes the multiple huge [state of texas size +] masses
of plastics and garbage accumulating in the oceans killing all forms of life that depend on jelly fish and other creatures that would be associated with floating seas of plankton instead [also the seas of plankton would be converting the carbon to oxygen .... over half the oxygen on earth is made this way ... do
you know folks with ''papers'' who can verify?}.... when I was a kid I remember the big buggaboo was sulfur dioxide which came out of all our factories and lots and lots from volcanos ... hot spots [Yellowstone comes to mind] ... it's known that the sulfure dioxide when combined with H2O creates an acid [acid rain] which in turn acidified all the lakes and waterways down wind .... soooo, this person is not buying any of the carbon dioxide/acid c - - - ... besides, I'd like a
